THE HEROES
The Heroes by Marjane Satrapi is a chapter that talks about many prisoners who were set free after being behind bars for a long time. Siamak Jari and Mohsen Shakiba were two of the prisoners that were liberated. Both of them were communist. Marji seems to know what is going on with laly's dad. She knows he is not in a trip. Marji tells laly that his dad is dead. Laly's father is going to Marji's house to see everyone again. However they are happy that Laly's father came back because he had being away for a long time. Marjins family is happy to see Mohsen again. They tought that Mohsen was dead. Mohsen is telling the family how jail was and how they tortured the prisoners. Some of the prisoners would get bit if they didnt confess. Laly thinks that her father is a heroe because he suffered many tortures in prison. Finally the stories about prison had given marji ideas about torture games.
SKIING
Skiing by Marjane Satrapi is a chapter that talks about marjane been in a critical situation by trying to kill herself. Everyone was giving her advices of how to get out of her depression but she didn't listened to them. Then she became more depressed and all she did was watch a japanese serie. Marjane's friends decided to take her skiing but she didn't want to be there. After a while Marjane and her friends decided to talk about her first time but her friends ended up getting mad at her because they thought she was a whore after telling them she had a lot of experiences. Marjane became even more depressed and decided to see a psychotherapist and none of them worked, but finally she found one that gave her medication that made her fell well for a while. Marjane's parents went in a trip and left her alone and decided to kill herself by slitting her wrists but she wasn't brave to do it. Then she swallow all of her anti-depressants pills but it didn't work either. So Marjane thought she wasn't made to die. Finally she decided to become a sophisticated woman and start doing exercise as well.
